Frequently asked questions

Starting a business is a big step, so asking lots of questions is encouraged. We've answered some of the most common questions below to help you better understand the opportunity, what's included, and what life as a We Love Pets franchisee really looks like.

Burgess Hill
When can I replace my salary? (How much will I make?)

How quickly you replace your salary depends on factors such as your territory, how much time you commit, which services you offer, and how quickly you build your client base.

Many franchisees begin generating income within their first few weeks of trading, and some replace their previous salary within the first year.

Across our network, average monthly earnings are around £6,500, with some established franchisees earning £16,000+ per month.

Because We Love Pets is a scalable business model, your earning potential grows as you expand your team, add services and increase capacity.

The real question isn’t just “How much can I earn?” It’s “How big do you want to build your business?”

Why wouldn’t I just go it alone and save the money?

It’s a fair question and one we encourage people to ask.

Yes, you could start an independent pet business on your own. Many people do. But going it alone often means learning everything through trial and error.

That usually involves:

  • Making costly mistakes
  • Spending months (or years) building trust and credibility
  • Working out pricing, systems and processes yourself
  • Figuring out marketing and customer acquisition alone
  • Managing legal, compliance and insurance requirements without expert guidance

When you join We Love Pets, you’re not just paying for training.

You’re investing in a proven business model, established brand, expert support, marketing systems, operational processes, training, qualifications, and ongoing guidance designed to help you launch faster and reduce risk.

Put simply, many franchisees join because they want the fastest, safest route to building a successful pet care business.

What’s the total investment, and what’s included?

Your initial franchise investment is £12,995 + VAT.

This gives you access to everything you need to launch and grow your business, including:

  • Your exclusive franchise territory
  • Comprehensive pre-launch training
  • Business setup and launch support
  • Marketing launch pack
  • Professionally designed marketing assets
  • Access to our systems and operational resources

You’ll also pay an ongoing management service fee of 12%, which helps fund continued support, systems, innovation and growth across the network.

  • Ongoing business coaching and support
  • Pet care training and qualifications
  • Franchise handbook and operating systems
  • Access to the wider franchise community
  • 24/7 employment, safety and vet support

We believe in being transparent about costs, so we’ll walk you through everything during your discovery process.

What are the start-up costs?

In addition to the franchise fee, you’ll need some working capital to support your launch and early growth.

Typical start-up costs may include:

  • Business insurance
  • Additional uniform and equipment
  • Initial living costs while building your client base

The exact amount varies depending on your circumstances and how aggressively you want to launch.

Many franchisees fund both their franchise fee and working capital through government-backed Start Up Loans, allowing them to spread the cost into manageable monthly payments.

We’ll help you understand realistic costs and create a launch plan based on your goals.

What if I have no pet or business experience?

That’s completely fine. Many of our most successful franchisees had no previous pet care or business ownership experience before joining.

What matters most is not your background.

We look for people who are:

  • Passionate about animal welfare
  • Reliable and professional
  • Great with people
  • Willing to learn
  • Motivated to build a successful business

We teach you the rest.

Our training covers both business skills and pet care expertise, including recognised qualifications such as our Level 2 Canine Care Award, pet first aid, and ongoing professional development.

So whether you’re coming from healthcare, education, corporate, retail or something completely different, you can succeed with the right mindset and support.

How much time do I need to commit?

The amount of time you commit depends on the type of business you want to build and your personal goals.

Some franchisees start full-time from day one, while others gradually build their business alongside existing work or family commitments before transitioning fully.

In the early stages, you’ll likely spend time on a mix of delivering services, marketing, client communication and business development. As your business grows, many franchisees choose to employ staff, allowing them to focus more on managing and scaling the business rather than delivering every service themselves.

One of the biggest advantages of the We Love Pets model is flexibility - you can build a business that fits your lifestyle and long-term ambitions.

Can I employ staff?

Yes - and many of our most successful franchisees do.

While some franchisees begin as owner-operators, many go on to build multi-staff businesses by employing dog walkers, pet sitters, hosts and support staff.

Employing staff allows you to increase capacity, serve more customers and grow beyond what you could achieve alone.

We support you through every stage of growth, including recruitment, onboarding, employment guidance, HR support and business scaling strategies.

This means you can choose whether to stay hands-on in day-to-day pet care or transition into a more managerial role as your business grows.

What territories are available?

We have franchise territories available across many parts of the UK, although availability changes regularly as territories are reserved and sold.

Each territory is carefully mapped to provide strong growth potential, taking into account factors such as household density, demographics and demand for pet care services.

Some areas may also become available as resale opportunities, allowing you to take over an existing franchise with an established customer base.

The best way to find out what’s available in your preferred area is to speak with our team or book a discovery session.

We’ll be happy to discuss current availability and help you explore the best options for your location.
